Ten Things That Make Columbus a Great City for WritersWhat are the greatest cities for writers? New York, of course. Paris, definitely. London, San Francisco, Madrid. And
Columbus. Columbus, you say? True, it isn't as big as the others. It's not as celebrated in story and song. But it's a nurturing community that's always respected writers, which is probably the reason why many of us came here or why we stay. Over the next several months, the Downtown Writers Network will publish a series of articles about 10 things that make Columbus a great city for writers. (We may even go as high as 11 or 12. Who knows?) This will be a chance to discuss what we most appreciate about our city -- the cultural centers, events, schools, bookstores, coffee shops and bars, media outlets, parks, neighborhoods and other attractions that make Columbus a place where writers can practice their art. We welcome your insights and suggestions for this project. What would you include on the list -- the Main Library? Thurber House? WCBE? The Poetry Forum at Larry's? Tell us what makes Columbus a writers' city. The first article in the series will appear in October. Keep watching this space.
