The Downtown Writers Network is a resource for independent writers in central Ohio.

Located in Columbus, we provide services to freelancers, businesses that use freelance talent, and all creative writers in the dynamic mid-Ohio market.

This Week's Writing Events:  July 6 - 12, 2008

For all the terrific poetry venues and workshops in the city, Columbus suffers a lack of groups specializing in prose. The monthly Central Ohio Fiction Writers and the Creative Nonfiction Writers group (meeting this week, on Tuesday) are two.

This week we received notice of a new one: SiCCO -- Sisters in Crime of Columbus Ohio, whose "goal is to bring together and encourage writers of thriller/mystery/suspense novels."

They're meeting on the fourth Saturday of each month, currently in the Plain Township Fire Station in New Albany. If you're a mystery writer, be sure to check out their website.

Call for manuscriptsCalls for Writers

This & That Contemporary Newsletter is currently seeking talented freelance writers, authors, poets, critics and more to contribute their work for the Community to enjoy. A bi-monthly publication, designed as a "hybrid" between a newsletter and magazine, This & That only showcases local Central Ohio talent, businesses, groups and organizations, and is provided as a service to the Columbus community through our official distributor DeliverEZE, INK. Ideally, potential candidates will create original content for This & That in a "pg-13" content level (to appeal to the largest demographic, thus increasing readership). Due to space limitations, This & That reserves the right to select content, and makes no guarantee of publishing. For articles that are published in an issue of This & That, candidates will be compensated with a $25 gift card per article. For more information, check www.thisandthatcolumbus.com
